Hey lovelies, Yes I changed your nickname...again! But I'm sure this will be the last time. So today I had been thinking about what a girl from one of my previous schools had said to me. We were talking about careers and she said I could be a model. Thinking nothing of it, I said thanks and I told her she could be a model too. That's when she said "Thanks, but I want to do something that isn't so...easy." This was a little offensive because I felt like the compliment she gave me was back handed, but I'm giving her the benefit of the doubt and I'm thinking what she said just came out wrong. That day I didn't say anything to her, but I kept thinking in my head "how much do people really know about modeling?" So here is a list of the most notorious stereotypes about models, and an explanation on how real that actually are. So let's start with the stereotype that inspired me to make this post.
The Modeling Business is Easy
So all you have to do is be tall, skinny, and pretty and you become a famous model walking down the runway in Milan? Well, when your able to do so, that's when you can try to prove my point wrong. Modeling is not just about the way you look, you have to have a personality. You can't just be very pretty bump on a log. You always have to be confident, but not arrogant. Bubbly and smiley, but not an airhead. On top of that, the designers that are interviewing you at your go-sees want models that have a certain look, a certain body shape, and a certain walk, and if your a model/spokesperson, a certain voice, and a certain personality. And even if you meet all of those expectations, that doesn't guarantee you the job because your competing with hundreds of other girls to be with the few models that get to walk the runway. And in other modeling situations like commercial, your competing with other girls for just one part. And If your a woman or girl of color, its even harder to be a model, at least it's much harder to be a runway model. Only 1% of the runway models are Latina, 6% are Black, 6% are Asian, and 87% are white. It also costs a lot of money to get your pictures professionally taken to build your portfolio, and you never stop spending money on pictures because you have to keep your portfolio up to date with all the latest trends and fashions. Does modeling seem so easy now?
Now here's a stereotype that everyone has heard of.
All Models are Dumb
Now this goes hand in hand with "The Modeling business is easy"Because you don't need an education to be a model. So if a person is in the modeling buissness they're stupid? Well ask yourself this. Can a stupid person create a successful talk show that lasted for years, host a reality show that's also lasted for years and still running, write her own book, start her own filming production company, and create her own online magazine? Hmmm well, Tyra Banks is a retired model, and she has been able to accomplish all this in her life.
And what about Kimora Lee Simmons? She used to own Baby Phat, and now makes clothes for her new label, KLS and there is NOTHING easy about running a fashion label.
Heidi Klum, after modeling, is most well known for being the host of project runway, but she has also designed shoes, men's clothing, jewelery, swimsuits, and lingerie. Honestly I could go on and on about models if you wanted me to. (But I know you don't ;}). This without a doubt proves that not all models are dumb. Now are there models out there who don't know their there's from their they're's? Of course. Are there some models who are complete fools? For sure! But aren't those type of people everywhere? Think about where you work or where you go to school. You could probably think of a few people who... you would rather not talk about... and let's leave it at that. So yes, most models don't have their doctorate, but most are very smart.
Are you a model wannabe? Then these two stereotypes are probably topics you've thought of before.
You have to look like a barbie to be a model
Okay, so Heidi Montag is no Heidi Klum, but she definitely looks like she could be Ken's
spouse (and by Ken I don't mean Pratt). The barbie look was popular at times in modeling history, but looking different from everyone else has always been an advantage in the modeling world. New runway models like Chanel Iman, Daphne Groeneveld Kirsi Pyrhonen, and Josephine Skriver. All very beautiful, none the stereotypical "barbie". These lovely ladies prove that you don't need cheek implants, lip injections, a nose job, a brow lift, your ears pinned back, and your chin sawed down to be smaller, to be beautiful. ( Yes Heidi montag did all that to her face. In my opinion she was beautiful to begin with!)
Last but not least here is probably the most well known stereotype about models.
Models are Scary Skinny
Out of all the stereotypes in this post this one is probably the most true. To be a runway model you must be a size two or smaller, anything bigger and your considered a plus sized model. There is no in between. Even though you have to be skinny to be a top model. You can still be a model that travels the world at a plus size. Crystal Renn is one of the most successful plus size models. on the right you can see what she used to look like. She once explained that her body was never naturally "pin thin" and that she couldn't be healthier and happier at her current weight. She has posed for magazines like my favorite magazine ever which is Glamour. Other very well known plus sized models like Chloe Marshall , Whitney Thompson, Barbara Brickner are all prime examples of amazing plus sized models.
Conclusion
Well there you have it! All the stereotypes about models explained. If you learned anything in this post I hoped you learned that modeling is a difficult buisness and only the smartest and most determined make it. But what do you think? Am I missing a stereotype? Do you think I'm right, but want to add something? Or do you think I'm flat out wrong? Be sure to leave your comments below!
Bye for now :}.

Hey lovelyosities, So I just made this new video on youtube to support my blog. It's short, sweet, and to the point. What do you guys think about it? Also be on the look out for another top 5 post. This time it will be top 5 mascaras. I'm thinking about creating a series as well. It would be about exposing the truth about stereotypes. For example I'm making a post called Breaking Stereotypes: Models. So I would talk about stereotypes that are about models, and I would explain whether they are true or false. When I make this post be sure to comment and tell me if you loved it or hated it. Well that's it! By for now! :}
From the cat fights, to the... well, that's pretty much what makes the show! I mean, what would Jerseylicious be without all the crazylicious drama? More importantly, what would the show be without the infamous Tracy and Olivia? There is no doubt that their relationship is just getting worse and worse. But is all that hate for each other completely genuine?
This question never came to mind until I saw one of the newest Jerseylicious episodes. It was basically Tracy and Olivia competing for their favorite make up artists to become their assistant for their "Gatsby to Go" events. When Olivia chose her favorite make up artist, I believe his name is Miguel, I didn't think too much about it. But when I saw Tracy's pick, I had a strange case of deja vu, and I thought to myself wasn't she one of Tracy's fans from the latest Jerseylicious Reunion? She was one of the girls who talked about Tracy in the mall. She looked so much like Tracy it was a little hard to belive, and she commented on how she loved that Tracy "Knows what she wants in life". Here is a video of her (at 0:21).
Now that you have seen the video here is a picture of her from the "Business of Betrayal" episode.
( I know this isn't the best picture ever, but it was the only one I could find on the Internet and it gets pixeled out when I expand it, but if you have seen the episode you will definitely remember her face from the video above. Oh and no, there wasn't a video of the episode on YouTube either.) Seems a little suspicious right?
This doesn't mean the show is completely scripted, it just means that they might have some staged scenes to make the show more interesting. For example, I can think of three episodes where Olivia and Tracy "accidentally" end up at the same club. There was an older episode where Olivia was on a double date with Alexa, and Tracy was on a double date with her ex Lorenzo, and Gigi and her ex Frankie. They "unintentionally" end up going to the same club, and Tracy ends up storming out of the place because Lorenzo was trying to talk to Olivia. The second time was when Olivia and her on again off again friend Briella went clubbing and Tracy just happened to be there. Nothing really happened. It was just a little cat fight. But any Jerseylicious fan knows the newest "club scandal". Olivia and her exorcising obsessed boyfriend Mikey went to a club for their anniversary. And of course who showed up a while later? You guessed it! Tracy and her newest boy-toy. Olivia feels the need to tell Tracy that she doesn't want to start trouble but Tracy takes it the wrong way and the rest is history. Don't you find all this a little fishy?
And have you ever noticed how there is always a camera crew in Alexa's Salon when something out of the ordinary happens? Like when Gayle first came up with the "Gatsby to Go" Idea. Only that wasn't the original name. The original name had the word Glam in it. When Gayle posted the new service on her website, one of Alexa's employees discovers this new service. when the employee tells Alexa what the situation is, she is furious! And a camera is right there to capture all of the footage. All I have to say is this whole thing went from fishy, to full blown tuna.
But this doesn't mean the show is completely scripted and phony. It just means sometimes the producers set the cast up for disaster, and hope something crazy happens to thicken the plot. They are definitely not the only show that has rumours of having fake scenes. You may have heard of the TV show Bridezillas. Many of the women claimed they were encouraged to be louder, meaner, and crazier then what they were in real life. The show John and Kate Plus Eight (which changed to Kate Plus Eight when John left), also has lots of rumors of producers creating some baloney episodes. One of the most popular rumours circled around Christ's birthday. Basically the producers of the show allegedly created a fake Christmas scene complete with a decked out Christmas tree and fake presents under it. They told the children it was really Christmas time so they could have genuine reactions for the camera. When they were done filming they explained to the children that it wasn't really Christmas day. So why would they go through all this trouble when they could just film on the real day? Because it's too hectic and there's too much traffic during Christmas time for the camera crew to drive back and forth to John and Kate's house. Miss Gosselin says that's a total lie. Hmmm what do you think?
Anyways the point is on the last jerseylicious reunion, the cast was asked if they were actors. Of course they said no. But the question they should have been asked was "how much of the show is completely real?"
So what do you think? Is the show 100% reality? Just a little bogus? Or is the show faker then the Jerseylicous girls's acrylic nails? You decide! By for now :)
Over the years I've probably tried hundreds of conditioners. Most of them worked fine, but only a few of them were great go to conditioners. Here are my top five.
This conditioner is perfect for everyday use. It's great for people with severely dry/damaged, to normal or healthy hair. The product is blue, creamy, and has a tropical floral smell. I recommend applying a dime size amount of conditioner all over your hair for an extra boost of hydration, and to keep its scent in your hair.
4. Pantene Pro-V Ice Shine Conditioner
The experience I had with this conditioner was interesting to say the least. A few months ago on a Saturday, I had decided to try a DIY hot oil treatment for my hair. All you have to do is saturate your hair with the oil of your choice, and sit under a hooded dryer with a shower cap around your head for about 30 minutes. Sounds easy enough right? Well on that day I decided to pour a mixture of caster oil and olive oil together in a bottle with a nozzle so I could apply it directly to my hair without being too messy. So I put my cap on and sat under my dryer for 30 minutes. When I was done I was super excited to feel my soft, healthy hair, but what did I feel when I took that cap off? A big, crunchy pile of mess! I couldn't figure out what I did wrong. I thought of every possible explanation. Did I apply the oils right? Did I stay under the dryer for too long? It wasn't until I went into the kitchen ( the area where I mixed the oils in a bottle), and realized the mistake I had made. I had accidentally put vegetableoil in the bottle instead of my caster oil! Yeah... this is one of those moments where you ask yourself "how could I have mistaken vegetable oil for caster oil?" After that all I could think about was getting the nasty, epic fail out of my hair. I didn't want to use shampoo because I had shampooed my hair before I had applied the "treatment" and I knew shampooing my hair twice in less than two hours would turn my hair into straw. That's when I decided to wash out the vegetable oil with this conditioner. It was my first time using the conditioner and I was blown away at how well it took out the oil. The crunch was completely gone, and I couldn't believe how soft my hair was. I would recommend it to anyone with hair that needs a miracle.
3. Garnier Fructis Sleek and Shine Conditioner
With all the styles you can create with heat these days, the simple pin straight hairstyle seems to be the most popular. That's just because straightening your hair is pretty much goof-proof (unlike using a curling iron to curl your hair, which can create funny creases). It looks nice when it's down or it can look polished in a ponytail, and almost nobody in the world has naturally straight hair. Most people have at least some waviness to their hair. But using heat on your hair comes with consequences like drying it out, and getting split ends. But with this conditioner, you can straighten your hair and get less split ends and less dryness. So how does it work? The conditioner helps loosen curl or the wave pattern in your hair. It also makes the hair less likely to get frizzy in humidity. This means you can straighten your hair less during humid times, and you can use a lower heat setting on your flat iron, and that means healthier hair. I would recommend it to anyone who loves their stick straight 'do.
2. Garnier Fructis Wonder Waves Conditioner
Now this conditioner does the exact opposite of what the Sleek and Shine conditioner does. This actually enhances and defines the waves in your hair. It's great for scrunching hair to get the "effortless beachy" look. It's also great when you only have 15 minutes in the morning to do your hair. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to use less heat, but still wants to look cute :).
1. Maxi Essentials On Demand Conditioner
Now this conditioner by far is the best of the best. Why? Because no matter how tangled, or how dry your hair is. Every time you use this conditioner your hair will feel so soft, so silky and with the sweet vanilla scent, your hair will smell good enough to eat. I would recommend it to anyone who wants tangle free, shiny hair when they step out of the shower.
Well there you have it, the top five best conditioners I've ever tried. Think you've tried better? Tell me what conditioner you think I should have added to my list. By for now :).

Hey lovelylosities, So obviously, I have been gone for a good minute. And to make a long story short, my router (this is what gives a laptop wireless internet) wasn't working so I had to get a new one. While I was internet-less it finaly dawned on me that there was probably a blogger app for droid phones, and whaddya know? They do! this post was typed from my phone. Anyways I also wanted to talk about all the new things my blog has in store. I will have a schedule of what topics will be posted on what days for Eat Love Blog, and that's coming soon. I'm also posting my first haul in a few days. I'm saving up for a nice HD camera so I can post make-up, and hair tutorials for youtube. Another youtube channel would be made for videos of me singing covers. I have a flip camera but I want a camera with the screen-thingy (screen-thingy... really Amber?) That faces you so you can see what you look like in your videos. You also might have noticed that I changed your nickname from fabulousities, to lovelylosities. That's because I was watching TV and I saw a commercial that had Kimora Lee Simmons as their spokes person. She happens to use the word "Fabulousity" as her trade mark or slogan. I thought I made it up! Obviously Lee Simmons showed me I didn't (-________- this is my grumpy face). But I'm confident that lovelylosities is completely original. Well that's it for today. Expect to see a lot more from this blog within the next few weeks. Bye for now :}
